At the end of the 19th century hospitals were at last equipped with laboratories. So was the Hospital Ste. Zithe in Luxembourg, when opening its doors in 1925.

On the occasion of one of the numerous subsequent extensions of the hospital the photograph Bernard Kutter made this picture in 1952 showing a polarimeter (mid of the picture) and a microscope (right boarder) - belonging to the ultra modern engines in the time.
